What a mobile coffee bar needs at your venue

Short answer: A mobile espresso bar needs four things from the venue: its own plug point (our La San Marco 85 machines draw about 3.8 kW), a water supply near the bar, enough level floor space for the counter with room for the baristas behind it, and cover if the event is outdoors. The bar company brings the counter, machine, coffee, cups and staff.

Power: one dedicated plug point

Commercial espresso machines heat a large boiler, so they draw far more power than a home machine. Our two group La San Marco 85 machines draw about 3.8 kW on a normal single phase supply.

That means the machine needs a plug point of its own. Do not share it with urns, heaters, kettles or other heavy equipment, or the circuit may trip in the middle of service. If you are unsure what the venue has, ask the venue manager which plug points are on separate circuits and tell us when you ask for a quote.

Water: a supply close to the bar

The machine refills itself through a pump, so it needs water at the bar. A tap close to where the bar will stand makes setup simple. Let us know where the nearest tap is when you request a quote, and we plan the setup around it.

Space: room for the counter and the team

The espresso machine alone is 72 cm wide, 55 cm deep and 47 cm high, and weighs 60 kg. It sits on a bar counter, with the baristas working behind it and your guests queuing in front.

Allow for the counter itself, a working space behind it, and room in front for a short queue that does not block a doorway or walkway. Level ground matters: a heavy machine on a slope or on soft lawn is not safe.

Outdoors: cover and a level base

Outdoor events work well, from garden weddings to sports days. The bar needs to be under cover, such as a marquee, gazebo or covered patio, on level ground, with the same power and water as an indoor setup.

What the bar company brings

We arrive before your guests with the bar counter, the espresso machine, Segafredo Zanetti coffee, milk, cups and trained baristas. We serve for the event and pack everything away afterwards.

Common questions

Can a mobile coffee bar share a plug point?

It is best not to. Our espresso machines draw about 3.8 kW, so they need a plug point that is not shared with urns, heaters or other heavy equipment.

Does a mobile coffee bar need a tap?

Yes. The machine refills itself through a pump, so it needs a water supply near the bar.

Can a coffee bar be set up outside?

Yes, under cover and on level ground, with power and water available as for an indoor setup.
